It was a leisurely morning after the long day we had the day before and we even made breakfast. When we arrived at the visitor center we saw that we were just minutes too late for a short hike with a ranger and Bill would have loved to do that. Instead, he bought a ticket for the train. We didn't go with him since we rode the McKinley Explorer on a previous trip and Pam stayed with us. Bill rode to Talkeetna and we drove down to meet him there and bring him back.
The train ride would be 4 hours and only half that for our drive, so we had lunch at Lynx Pizza before starting out to meet Bill. We arrived early enough to wander around Talkeetna, a very popular stop. The streets were full of tourists just like being at a street fair.
